An original idea is like fire in the dark.
Within the code of language i'll try to light the path for anyone who dares to follow.
A sequence of words may describe a vision or record a memory, inevitably
all will be distorted by time and technology.

SHORTCUT

a long time ago he needed to be mobile...
the internet... connecting the modern world at nearly the speed of light. all he needed was a laptop and a connection to the Net. he had invented the imaginary job that could be done from any place in the world. webmaster. he always hatted saying that... sounds like a dungeons and dragons role playing game...

the shortcut is 'On The Road' for the internet generation.
- Tomas Langley | daily tech-lit review

imaginary friends

JICYDK ITILU :)
JICYDK = just in case you didn't know
ITILU = i think i love you
:) = emoticons can change and improve interpretation of plain text. however, sarcastic intentions can be more difficult to interpret.

Communicating across vast distances of time and space... even the best of friends will become an incomprehensible collection of symbols and images. What does it feel like when everyone you thought you knew... becomes just another voice in your head?

"A fascinating and frightening projection of the current social network revolution into the not so distant future."
- Babbet Nod | the online book review haus

FEAR SIMULATOR

The simulation of trauma is a uniquely human endeavor.
Burnt plastic. Tiny bottles of paint. Red, Green, Blue, Brown... Red.... I remember the red ones most of all. The first, faded memories. Burnt... melted plastic solders... black, brown and red. Half destroyed plastic homes. These were the first memories of a table in my room. The sweet smell of the smoke that came from his mouth. The sounds that emanated from the box near the window, "... I always feel like somebody's watching me. And I have no privacy, whoa-oa-oa. I always feel like somebody's watching me. Tell me, is it just a dream."

"Tragic. Inspiring. Unforgettable portrait of a childhood lost in a world of simulated violence and paranoia"
-Luc Broc | review time now

LAST TRAIN

His friend was a switchman and the trains were full of lard, he would say. He loved the trains. He hated his job.
Arriving, he thought the hardest part was over. Crossing the border he carried with him some clothes, a digital camera and a portable hard drive. It was everything... memories and the ability to create and manipulate new ones. He hadn't been home in years. Invited home and given a place to stay by his childhood friend. There was hope that this could be a new beginning. He could not have imagined how much the world had changed.

"Remarkable story telling that will resonate though the coming decades"

The Word Presser

Is that little black hole at the center of the galaxy
connected to the same black hole at the center of all of us?
The last job was to assemble the words as specified. It was the last thing to do before everything changed. No time to regret. Could escape velocity be reached? Could the words help others survive the journey? Could the words survive the pressure?

"A somber meditation on the end of life and the process of letting go to move forward."
- Jak Darsay | Bookman undercover review

portable eraser

Intentionally changing the past may have unintended consequences on the present
The room was the same. The clock on the wall displayed the same time as always. Always the same time and place. Ready to be cleaned. Prepped to be erased. To be rewritten. Ready... Set... Go.... A rumbling beyond the door to the room. What will the consequences be this time?

"Proof that the most advanced technology in the universe is the human mind."
- Terry Sark | Author of 'the pillsberry'

PHISHING NET

“Good Artists Copy, Great Artists Steal” , this was the chant that echoed though the underground.
Where? When? How? These questions no longer mattered... they were just something to think about while sitting in the dark. Sitting and waiting for the next round of torture. Time for a new idea. "Because when the creativity dies... so do you!", they would chant... and taunt... and laugh.

"An artist's nightmare rendered as a whimsical fantasy of redemption and hope"
- Larry Notting | Author of 'You CAN take it with you'
